Top Touch won Saturday’s $20,000 Ann Arbor Stakes at Pinnacle Race Course with a stalking trip and plenty left in the tank to pull away in the stretch.
The three-year-old Touch Gold filly broke in second and sat on the outside hip of leader Cute Creation as they headed into the clubhouse turn. Run With Rachel headed up the second wave about three lengths behind the front pair. Cute Creation continued to lead across the backstretch and pulled away a bit from Top Touch to lead by a length. Top Touch began to whittle away at the advantage heading into the final turn and came to even terms with the leader at the top of the bend.
The pair traded head bobs thrrough the first half of of the turn, but Top Touch disposed of Cute Creation as they made the turn for home. Top Touch was ahead by three lengths at the top of the stretch and remained unchallenged to the wire on his way to a 5 1/4 length victory under right hand urging from jockey Alexis Ortiz. Run With Rachel continued her even trip for second, followed by Hustle Now.
Top Touch completed the one mile race in 1:42.94 over a fast dirt surface. She was the fourth choice in the Ann Arbor with odds of 4.80-to-one. Post time favorite Fully Exposed passed tired rivals to finish fifth.
