– The Jockey Club has released individual fact books for each state that offers live racing. Michigan is included in the states analyzed in the areas of breeding, racing and sales. Predictably, the report features a bunch of charts and tables trending in a downward direction. With that said, it is interesting to see where Michigan-breds are breeding, competing and foaling outside of state. It’s no surprise that three of the top four out-of-state areas for Michigan-bred earnings are racino states. It is definitely a worthwhile read for anyone involved in the state’s racing industry and interested in its direction.

– On a personal note, readers of the Midwest Thoroughbred and Arabian Finish Line magazines will notice stories and/or photos by yours truly in this month’s issues. If and when links become available, I will put them up. I intend to contribute to future editions of both magazines, so if you’d like to keep up with my work, be sure to subscribe to both of these fine publications.

  1. Thank you soooo much for the shout out! I’m thrilled to be representing Thoroughbred horse racing at the ArtPrize competition in Grand Rapids. Racing needs all the positive publicity it can get!

    Offracin,
If you’re referring to my magazine stuff, thanks! You definitely get credit for the assist for the Arabian Finish Line. Without you, I probably would have never even heard of the publication. I’m very grateful for that.

If you’re referring to the artwork, it is very impressive. I may make the trip to GR just to see it in person.

If you’re referring to the declining figures in the Jockey Club report, what’s the matter with you? :p

    Sharon,
My pleasure! That’s a fantastic piece you’ve got there, and you’re right on about racing needing publicity. Best of luck in the contest!
